Licensed Naturopathic Doctors Help Fill Growing Local Demand for Safe and Effective Natural Medicine.
Tulsa, OK—June 16, 2010—Licensed Naturopathic Doctors are becoming
widely known as the practitioners who are best suited to meet the extraordinary consumer demands for safe and effective healthcare.
By adding Naturopathic Medicine to an existing healthcare regimen, more people are experiencing longer lasting or permanent
health recovery. Dr. Daniel Kellman founded Tulsa Naturopathic Group to help fill the growing demand in Tulsa for Naturopathic Doctors who have been trained at accredited
Naturopathic medical schools, and Dr. Matthew Perchemlides joins Dr. Kellman to expand the offerings of Tulsa Naturopathic Group to even more people in the Tulsa area.
Dr. Kellman is a graduate of the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine, one of four Naturopathic Medical Colleges in the United States accredited by the Council on Naturopathic Medical Education (CNME). He has been in practice for 12 years and is licensed by the State of California as a Naturopathic
Doctor. Dr. Kellman has many years of experience working with autoimmune disease, pain syndromes, chronic digestive problems,
and fatigue. His main area of focus over the past four years has been in Naturopathic Oncology and he is a staff ND at Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Tulsa. Dr. Kellman is one of 42 doctors in North America to have completed a fellowship in
Naturopathic Oncology and is the current president of the Oklahoma Association of Naturopathic Physicians (OKANP). He also
served as Treasurer of the Oncology Association of Naturopathic Physicians (OncANP).
“Integrative
medicine is rapidly becoming the new paradigm in the great healthcare transformation we are currently seeing. I am witnessing
this change in the integrative oncology setting at Cancer Treatment Centers of America, where oncologists, naturopathic doctors, mind/body medicine specialists, acupuncturists, chiropractors
and nutritionists interact with the specialties of surgery, radiology, pulmonology, gastroenterology, and rehabilitation.
This is truly patient-centered care as it addresses the patient as a body, mind, and spirit rather than a diagnosis.
Licensed Naturopathic Doctors who have been trained at a four year, accredited
Naturopathic medical college are the gatekeepers in this emerging integrative model, having been trained both in conventional
medicine and in natural therapeutics. Oklahomans deserve this level of medical attention. That is why I am honored to
have Dr. Perchemlides join me, as his expertise brings expanded Naturopathic offerings to families and children of Tulsa and
Oklahoma.”
Dr. Matthew
Perchemlides (“Dr. Perch”) is unique even among Licensed Naturopaths—not only has Dr. Perch earned a medical
degree from an accredited four-year naturopathic medical college as well as licensure, but he also brings eight years of hospital
nursing experience and a Masters degree in Human Nutrition to his patient-care repertoire, making his approach to patient
care a fully integrative one.
Dr. Perch
graduated first in his class from the University of Bridgeport College of Naturopathic Medicine. In addition to earning his Naturopathic medical degree, he became fully trained in Craniosacral
Therapy, assisted in several research projects at the Yale-Griffin Integrative Medicine Center, was accepted to a highly competitive and nationally recognized residency program, and earned licensure
from the state of Vermont by passing the national board examinations given by the North American Board of Naturopathic Examiners (NABNE).
Dr. Perch’s
research credits include his doctoral thesis on the use of CoQ10 in Naturopathic Oncology, which is awaiting publication in
an oncology textbook, as well as his research and public presentation of his findings surrounding the childhood vaccination
schedule.
Prior to
earning his Naturopathic medical degree, Dr. Perch was a Registered Nurse at four nationally recognized hospitals and gained
experience working on twenty-eight different medical floors, including pediatrics, neonatal intensive care, trauma burn care,
and step-down intensive care, all areas in which he has received advanced training. Dr. Perch even traveled to Cuba to research
healthcare policy with an emphasis in pediatric asthma. It was during his career as a nurse when Dr. Perchemlides first began
exploring Naturopathic Medicine.
“Though I enjoyed helping my patients feel better in the hospitals, I wanted to give them more options
for care, options that would help them with both healing and prevention. I found that Naturopathic Medicine complemented my
training in conventional medicine and allowed me to vastly expand my offerings to my patients. Naturopathic medical care involves
more than just the identification of disease and the management of symptoms; it involves locating and targeting the source of an
ailment through a comprehensive and evidence-based integrative approach so the patient has the best chance of making a full
recovery without harmful and toxic treatments.”
Dr. Perch will provide consultation and recommendation services in addition to the care his patients are currently
receiving from primary care and other physicians. “ ‘First, do no harm’ ” is the foremost of our guiding
principles,” says Dr. Perch about the integrative medical philosophy. “Therefore, our first priority is to help
you achieve your health goals safely. The best way to do so is to collaborate with a patient’s other physicians.”
Dr. Perch joins Dr. Kellman in July 2010. A full list of both doctors’
services and modalities can be found on their websites, www.drmatthewperchnd.com and www.tulsanaturopathicgroup.com. Dr. Kellman and Dr. Perch would like to make the medical expertise of Licensed Naturopathic Doctors
widely accessible to Oklahomans by helping to pass licensure for the state. Currently 16 other states in the United States,
including neighboring Kansas, enjoy the benefits of this patient-focused form of medicine. In a licensed state, not only do
many insurance companies cover Naturopathic medical visits, but Licensed Naturopathic Doctors are also able to offer their
patients the full scope of practice consistent with their rigorous medical school training.
